Amazing how much that event changed him.

From my mother’s account, my father was the most doting husband she could ever have wished for. He went out of his way to buy foods that would delight her, bought her surprise gifts of flowers or jewellery, and massaged her feet in the evenings as the weight upon them grew. Life was perfect and the future they saw stretching out ahead of them was everything they could have wished for. Until the worst happened.
