Aw gorgeous piece. It always seems so desperately sad when Alzheimers causes such forgetfulness. My girls' grandmother has no idea who they are anymore, and they saw a good deal of her over the years. It's almost like that entire time spent building a relationship was all for nothing... like you wondered if your time, money and energy spent visiting your dad was all for nothing. It isn't, of course, but emotionally it's hard to reason. I'm sure it must have felt good to you and you brother though. Well done!
