For what it's worth, I think you made the best decision at the time. It could have caused some major hurt for your friend and perhaps you saved her that. Sure, she never really knew what was going on in Jake's head. But then again, he made no further moves. Complicated and there's definitely no clear cut answer, but I believe you acted out of kindness rather than cowardice.
