From what I understand, several large land owners, including the Duchy of Cornwall, have agreed to allow wild campers with some rules set in place. Which is great except that this permission can be revoked at any time and so it's not a solution. But I agree that it will likely be overturned. Darwall's triumph, which has now enabled him to release pheasants into the woodland for hunting purposes, has brought him back into the news since this so-called "preservation and conservation of Dartmoor Commons" is now putting a rare beetle at risk. Not to mention that everything that his estate offers - hunting for sporting pleasure - goes against the very essence of conservation.
