Great piece, Alicia. I see that divide in young people these days, and I thing the cost of living as well as the rising tuition fees plays a big part in that. My daughter has decided to put university off for the moment because she wants to be sure she's going for the right reasons and choosing the right course before committing that kind of money. Meanwhile, she has already run her own self-employed venture, teaching EFL, building websites, and managing social media. She knows she doesn't need to get a degree to do that. But she also realised there is a value to having an academic depth of knowledge.
