Greetings From the New Writers Welcome Editorial Team

Where February began in quite a topsy-turvy manner

Welcome to February, Scribblers and Scribers!

We are tiptoeing our way through the year while the publication continues to experience phenomenal growth. The writing of all you amazing lot is still coming in swathes and we LOVE reading all of your incredible work.

However, we have had a little bit of editorial upheaval behind the scenes for the past ten days or so, since Robert Ralph’s PC did one on him and rendered him a little bit useless (only joking Rob), I mean *unable* to get into the backend of the pub.

So, we have been scrabbling about, in the pockets of time that we have, to make sure that we get through all of your stories and articles in good time.

If you have noticed a bit of a delay in the time that we come back around to reading any responses to queries on your articles, this is why. Basically, Robert is the rock of this pub and without him we are like sailors flung overboard and clinging onto rafts for dear life.

Imagine the final scenes of The Titanic — that’s us, only not quite as romantic.

Talking of which…

It’s February, the month of LOVE!

During this month, I am planning my own little feature, highlighting some of the best stories from across Medium on the topic of love, and I would love to feature writing published in both New Writers Welcome and its sister publication, What Is Love To You.

If you have anything at all that you want to share on the topic of love, and you want the opportunity to get featured in one of my Fabulous February Fables and Fondles Features, then get writing and submitting to one of our family of pubs. And mention me — Sally Prag — so that I can add it to my shortlist of stories.

It’s not a requirement to mention me, since this is simply me wanting to send more loving vibes out into the Mediumsphere this February, but it will help me find your story.

No promises to be featured but I will read every single one!

Onto the important stuff…

Stats:

In the last 30 days there has been 139,311 minutes of read time in the publication, which is pretty incredible if you ask me!

Our follower count is at 6,596, up from 5,000 at the start of January. Our growth has continued to climb steadily.

It’s no wonder, since we have a unique publication with a unique mission — to give those new to the space a leg up.

Competition Winners

If you missed it, the amazing Andrey Pilipets judged January’s competition and announced the winners last week.

Go and check out the article and read the winning entries, for they were well-deserved.

And, while I am here, a quick mention of the competition judged by the wonderful Marilyn Glover for our sister publication — What Is Love To You?

Check out the winning entries and enjoy a bit of sweet, gentle love-infused writing.

And, one more contest currently running…

We now have a brand new column in New Writers Welcome, hosted by none other than Andrey Pilipets, our fitness-loving editor. Do check it out.

He is gifting 3 lucky winners with his 3-month Healthy Half Hour Bootcamp. This is a great opportunity to win it for yourself, or even as a gift for your loved one for Valentine’s Day.

Your featured stories of the week

My favourite part of every newsletter is featuring the outstanding writing in our publication.

First up is Erica Marie with her beautiful image of her life 10 years from now, in response to Amy Shearn’s Write Here prompt:

Krystyna Waterhouse wrote it exactly as it is, when it comes to self-care in today’s toxic social media marketing world. Check out what she has to say — it’s a phenomenal article that will really make you think:

This story from Taylor Davidson had me astounded with my jaw on the floor. A brilliantly told story of a total git of an ex-husband:

Nick Stockton gave me a good giggle with his account of his Father’s Day treat from his kids. Perhaps you will relate?

And the absolute legend that VRITANT is, he shared this great piece on two fabulous sites to source great copyright license-free images. Go and check it out:

So, that concludes this week’s look at the week just gone.

Thanks for being here, for the hours of reading, and the relentless writing!

May the week ahead be smooth-sailing all round.
