Honestly, I always feel weirdly boring-sounding when I am speaking with Americans. We grew up with American films and TV that presented something romantically different to the dreary world of Britain and I was certainly charmed by American accents.

Not surprisingly, I am no longer charmed by films and TV - I have wisened up a bit. But I still enjoy hearing the accent(s). I can imagine the rural Cornish loving it :)
