I am totally on board with this. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I happened to pass a second hand book shop and popped in. I found lots of classic children's books, including lots of Roald Dahl books, Little Women, and others. I bought all the good ones I could find and spent the rest of my pregnancy reading them. Many were ones that I had read as a child and I absolutely loved re-reading them. There were also a few Roald Dahls I hadn't read as a child and got a lot of licks out of reading children's literature that was new to me.
Of course, it was some years before I read many of these to my daughter, but I made sure I did.
