I confess, I have never thought of the self-checkout in such a way before. I see it as a privilege of those who can get away with small grocery shops, for which I rarely qualify, with my two ravenous teenage girls and eight-year-old highly active boy with too-high-metabolism. One day I can be that self-checkout user again....
