I love this post, and I relate to such a lot of it. I have lived in small spaces and struggled to have distraction-free time.

I enjoyed your diversion - I think these things add to a story, personally. I would suggest that you create boundaries over blocks of time remaining undisturbed. Let your husband know that you are focusing for the next hour and then you will be available to help him search in the fridge or whatever.

Zulie Rane starts by creating a bullet list of points that she wants to make, to keep her article on point. I have tried this and it works really well. I also just start writing and then see what I have thrown up 30 minutes later, but I have now been writing daily articles...even more than one per day on average...for more than 4 months, and the process has become way easier.
