I remember during the BLM protests, when some big ones broke out over here and the statue of enslaver, Edward Colston was thrown into the river estuary and my dad commenting how it was not really about the man or what he stood for but about the need to express anger in any way the public could. That comment has really stayed with me through all these protests since October 7th and the passion from people who don't even know where Palestine is. Bearing in mind that was June 2020. Today the same frustration with powerlessness, that had been steeping for many years already, has percolated exponentially since then. This merely provided the outlet they needed. You're so right that it didn't matter what it was, as long as it was something they could get really angry about and felt entitled to scream about.
