I walk a lot on lovely old Dartmoor and have to replace my walking shoes every year or so, once the seams start giving and water starts coming in. I always get a good quality pair but would definitely never pay that much, and I always wait for a bargain. I usually manage to get away with spending £20-£30 a a pair and they always do me fine. One or two walks and they're broken in.
