I'm a Gen-X and my parents never knew where we were, which included building tunnels with haybales in farmers' barns, jumping into rivers, wading through flooded fields up to our thighs in water, walking across the countryside to find more good river swimming spots, or dashing around on our bikes across the nearby moorland. It was a great childhood!
