I'm of Jewish origin also but, since not being allowed to do anything Christmas-y in our home when I was a child, I have always invited Christmas into my own home. However, I would never consider it something worth spending much money on. a humble tree, lights (because they're love anyway), and we do love a roast dinner (nut roast because we're vegetarian). Some years, we have bought all our gifts from charity shops, spending no more than £5-£10 per person, and kept everything simple.

Oh, and I have always thought 8 days of gifts is so much better than just the one, even though the gifts are small :)
