Israelis who can speak English love speaking English and will speak it whenever they get the chance. It actually makes it very difficult to practise your Hebrew when spending time there.

As a child, neither my Savta (grandmother) spoke English, nor any of my cousins under the age of around 11/12, so I had to use whatever Hebrew I had to communicate with them. I also highly recommend watching Rehov Sum Sum (Sesame Street) as a great way to practise listening, plus it's super cute (and very nostalgic for me - I adored watching it as a child).
