It sounds as if you have a lot of trauma resulting from your childhood and your feelings are understandable. My hope is that you turn this trauma into making wise choices but heal from it too and realise that union with another can bring a lot of joy and fulfilment. Marriages will always require effort and reflection from both sides - from yourself and from a significant other. If you are willing to make a marriage (or just a partnership) happy then your soulmate may well show up for you too and want exactly the same.

When it comes to adoption, there's often a lot of bureaucracy that comes with it. Here it would be virtually impossible to adopt if you are a single woman. The agencies need to see stability - both emotional and financial. But it's an honourable choice to make, for sure.
