It was that kind of a frustratingly perfect spring day when you wish you hadn’t brought your thick hoodie (actually, only hoodie) out on a dog walk.

Not only that but it was that kind of a frustratingly perfect spring day when choosing the long steep walk up through the woods while wearing a thick hoodie was the most ridiculous choice of walk.

But that’s just the kind of thing I end up doing.

Because it was also that kind of a frustratingly perfect spring day when you just need to find somewhere quiet, deserted, and beautiful to hang out with two dogs while you lie in the sun and read a book.

And so, it had to be the steep uphill path. Not just part of the way and then down along the easier path to the river, but all the way to the very top. Because only fools like me bother going up there.

It was that kind of a frustratingly perfect spring day when a walk in the sunshine, especially a steep uphill one, makes you want to strip down to a sleeveless top…
