It's always good to recognise the imperfections of the nearly-perfect. The reference to Hook took me back a bit - I must have appreciated to pantomime qualities, because I remember really enjoying it. but then, I was a kid at the time. I completely relate to your sentiment around Avatar. I really could not work out if I loved it or hated it.
