I’ve been meaning to read the book Conscious Capitalism for a long time, to see if that actually raises capitalism in a different light. But part of the problem when it comes to the inequalities in society is the fact that capitalism has dictated how well anyone can live. We should be free to choose to live well for less if we choose to, but it’s practically impossible with a monopoly on energy and global corporations driving local producers out of business. So the state has to prop that up by offering safety nets. If the capitalists want a capitalist world then they have to accept their responsibility in helping to prop up the capitalist economy.
