Local Author Simon Dillon Has Either Spooked Me or Struck a Chord

Call it coincidence or synchronicity — or even the work of other entities (nothing can be ruled out here)— but coming across Simon Dillon in my first couple of weeks on Medium made me think a little more on the concepts.

I first noticed his comments on the stories of authors whose work I was enjoying immensely — specifically, the legendary Lindsay Rae Brown. She, too, had made a couple of references to his “Britishness.”

A British writer? I hadn’t come across too many of those and so I checked out his profile. His bio was the first thing that struck me:

Novelist and Short Story-ist. Film and Book Lover. If you cut me, I bleed celluloid and paper pulp.

They do say it’s worthwhile having a striking bio!

I opened his pinned article, “Simon Dillon: Where Did He Come From, and Can We Put Him Back?” and quickly found an interview conducted by Justin Cox of The Writing Cooperative and, being a nosy kind of lass, I clicked on it.

I was amazed to find out that he had not only grown up in the Oxford area, just like I had, but had then moved down to the southwest of England. Just like I had. I…
