My dad's wife died when he was 74. He has certainly never considered looking for anyone else since then, 7 years ago. He has got on with life but he still misses her a good deal of the time. I don't see it as unhealthy. She was the love of his life and he prefers to treasure the memory of it rather than consider sharing his space with anyone else.
