My father was born during the war - the youngest of six and with a nineteen year gap between him and his eldest brother. His two eldest brothers were fighting in the war at the time. I can certainly imagine that his mother and father were very changed people from when they had their first babies. Not only from the experience of war and seeing their sons leave, maybe never to return, but also their wealth and the vast changes that families of that size experience.
