My take on all of this is that it should never be about scientifically proving anything, but guiding people with what has proven to help some, and shared in a sensitive way, completely and unpretentiously subjective . Looking for scientific backing for anything seems fruitless to me, since we are constantly disproving previously proven facts in science. Science is a poor excuse for trying to prove something is fact, but even science is an ever-changing phenomenon. I recently read a paper in the Lancet that shows how we can disprove pretty much all scientific research that has been carried out. It's true! :) Try different things and find what works for you, is what I reckon!
