Ouch! I'm so sorry you got caught up in that. I'm sure it's easy to do. I personally have a policy of ignoring message requests from random strange men, and often block them immediately. If nothing else, I really don't have time to be conversing online in messaging apps, nor do I like spending time doing so. But scams are everywhere and it's easy to be fooled.
