That's what I have felt too. I am not leaving and I will continue publishing here, but it makes sense to keep some to put behind a paywall on Substack and build an audience that isn't purely on Medium. I believe there are many writers like myself who are thinking along the same lines and hold out hope that Medium will recover. The real problem is that without addressing the issue of writer earnings, it's not merely that writers will leave but it will potentially scupper the business model that Tony has spent this long building. It's counterintuitive to brush it off as one measly aspect of the greater machine. The writers, together with the editors are the heart of the machine.
