This has been the constant rant of my dad, age 81, whenever my daughter refers to her gender-fluid bestie. And because he's forgetful, he has the same rant over and over, as if it's the first time. It gets so tiresome that I told my daughter that it's easier to use her friend's name than a pronoun.
