This is on point and I hope every parent is heeding this kind of observation. I was given a book when my eldest was a baby which discussed the way our words can influence our children. It had a very deep impact and I have been very conscious of the things I say, including when your child is half way up a tree and you say "you're gonna fall" - this can shift their own beliefs from total self-belief in their ability to climb to "knowing" that they are going to fall, because you said so, and you speak the truth. If you shift that to "Go carefully, you can do it", imagine how differently they feel.
