This kind of thing has always fascinated me and I could write a lot about how the son (sun) of God is pure symbolism of the movement and rebirth of the sun. But I will save that for another time.
The pagan goddess of spring was called Eostre. The article I am linking will explain a lot except that according to scholarly articles, the festival of Ostara (the spring equinox) was not an Anglo Saxon festival but a Neo pagan invention. The significance of the full moon is that the pagans divided the year in 2 - the dark (winter) half and the light (summer) half. And the transition from one to the other happened at certain full moons, the spring one marking the feast of the goddess Eostre.
And yes I am sure Passover’s proximity is no coincidence. Least of all that it’s pronounced Pesach in Hebrew and the names for Easter in Latin languages are very close - Paques in French.
Basically, Easter has no actual root in Christianity. Resurrection? The sun? Three days between the crucifixion and the resurrection? Exactly what happens to the sun over the winter solstice? I’d better shut up now before people come after me with pitchforks.
