Unfortunately, it's still happening that people just don't think. My friend, currently with puppies, intentionally didn't advertise them until nearly Christmas, even though they are old enough to be rehomed now, because she didn't want them to be bought as Christmas presents. She wanted to make sure they were taken by people who really want them.
