Unfortunately, most policy-making seems to be minimally influenced by science, and more influenced by winning over voters and financial benefits.

The mood here in the UK is of life being close to "normal" again, planning travels, cinemas and theatres operating as usual, and mask mandates dropped. I would love it if this really is the case but only time will tell. So far, cases are dropping daily and the mask mandates were lifted at the end of January, yet most people are still wearing masks and businesses are all asking people to continue to wear them.
