Walking the Coast Path of Love…With You

Didn’t I tell you I’d love you until the cliffs crumble into the sea?

Treading gently upon the earth,
together we walked the path to nowhere,
The sound of the gulls’ cries filling the sky and all around;
Free-ee, free-ee — is that what they are saying?
They are calling to no one yet it’s me who hears
while you, you talk to me softly in a language only I can understand…

The language of love.

Our journey rises and falls, rises and falls.
We dip down into the valleys where streams run into the sea
and we climb steep hillsides to peer over cliff edges.
Standing on the precipice of a life enveloped in love
while knowing that my destiny is elsewhere, far away
far away
from you.

I told you then that my love would last as long at the cliffs stood there.
It was where our love began and it’s where it would end…
