What a lovely tram-ride down memory lane. That's something I never knew about Sydney.

It all reminds me a little of the town my dad lives in. It has a lido built into the rocks and filled by the tide just like that. The last time I went there, it was the early May bank holiday weekend, three weeks before the lido officially opened for the season, but the weather was so beautifully hot for the time of year that my daughter and I went down for a swim and snuck under the fence. We weren't the only ones either. It was a wonderful case of "rules are only there for those who can be bothered to follow them."

Oh, and there are at least 7 fish 'n' chip chops within walking distance of the lido and a beautiful shingle beach with a cafe that does a great selection of good but inexpensive food. But the local theatre has nothing on Sydney Opera House, I'm afraid.
