When Did Your Lockdown Haircutting Duties End? Because Mine Still Haven’t

I am wondering if I should try harder at putting an end to me being the resident hairdresser

Today I faced the fearsome task that I have been facing every three months or so since spring 2020 — the cutting of my son’s hair.

Like for many others, it began with necessity during the first lockdown. Unfortunately, I hadn’t got my son to the hairdresser for some weeks before lockdown was announced and so his hair was already on the long side when the hairdressers and barbers all closed their doors for the next fourteen weeks or so.

It’s funny, because I had great foresight with other aspects of life and had prepared accordingly. Most notably, the massive pile of books I borrowed from the library for the whole family.

But haircuts were not at the forefront of my mind.

So when I reluctantly gave my son a haircut, it was accepted by both of us as mere necessity and nothing more. After all, the hairdressers and barbers would open again in due course and we would go back to normal.
