When my girls were small, I found a children's book in a second hand store about the legend of the Goddess Pele. It was a beautiful book and became one of the girls' favourite. I also happened to have a friend living on that island at the time, and one day she began posting photos of an eruption that was taking place. It was kind of amazing to connect the storybook with something actually happening in real time.
