Why I am Shocked at This Move by One Particular Publication
We have to stand by our morals and publish only with those who are ethical and act with integrity
Coffee Times has long been one of my favourite publications.
It has some great columns, some wonderful editors, and appears to stand behind some heartfelt philosophies. In addition, I have always felt that Winston, the owner, knows how to do things to get his writers’ work seen and given credit for their hard work. I found a true generosity in all he did.
From my own experience, I have also felt that Coffee Times has probably won the respect of the Medium Staff, and that it has become known as a place where high quality, thoughtful, and considered work is published.
However, that all changed this morning when a group of writers I am friends with drew my attention to an article that was published there recently, called “Why I Hate LGBTQ Community.”
Without even reading beyond the title, it’s enough to make you question what is going on here. Why would any publication who cares about their reputation publish an article with that title?
But I read beyond the title. And it didn’t get any better. Only much, much worse.
