We're Kingfisher fennel toothpaste junkies and I once decided it was worth buying a wholesale pack of them . 24 tubes! I think they lasted about 2 years and felt like a bottomless pit at the time. I was actually really glad to be rid of them eventually. Never again.

And now you've got me thinking that special offers may not just be a means to make us buy more but may also be a means of mind control. Just thinking about shopping for a household of...I've lost count again...forces me to spend half my life waiting in anticipation of the next special offers. I also never buy a bottle of wine unless it's been reduced - because obviously I'm getting a much higher quality wine for my money...or am I?
