Your sons are smart. My girls had almost nothing to do with social media until last year but, living with cousins for the last months who spend their spare time (of which they seem to have a lot more than I did at their age) watching TikTok videos, it seems to be more in their lives. As someone who is acutely aware of how precious every minute of my time is, I struggle to understand this desire to wile away the hours watching videos that do nothing to enrich one's life. And that may sound harsh and judgmental but it's true for the vast majority of videos.

Social media does have its value at times, as I found when our dog ran away last week (we'd have never found her without the number of local people who are on Facebook regularly). And my eldest, though she rarely posts on social media, adds the occasional story, which helps to keep me aware that she is doing well while travelling in Turkey, since she's too busy in general to send WhatsApp messages very often.
