You're not alone. There's a great big family of Jews around the world holding space for each and every one of us.
My mother was born in Israel. She's 76 now. Yesterday I saw an interview with a 72-year-old former hostage who saw her husband being murdered on October 7th. She was so strong and brave in captivity. Now she's home, she cries almost constantly, and she said "nothing like this has ever happened in my country before now" as she cried her eyes out. And that is the truth - Israel has, for the most part, built a happy and successful society for its inhabitants. It's the same Israel my mother grew up in. No Israelis would ever wish the kind of barbarism of October 7th on anyone. I'm crying now as I think of that poor woman.
